Australia's first Digital Presentations & Imaging Centre was 'David Myers & Associates' the first, 'DMA' and the parent company of Digital Masters Australasia. In 1985 the Mac Plus had just been released and DMA was contracting to Apple Resellers and the Computer Slide Centre as Macintosh graphics support specialists. When the first colour Macs appeared in 1987 DMA was instrumental in developing Direct-to-Screen' full colour interactive presentations using 'PixelPaint' ('PhotoShop' did not exist) Aldus Persuasion, VideoWorks II (neither did 'Director') and 24bit Video Projectors. Our first clients were, Apple, Arnotts, Land Rover, Peugeot, Hyundai, Telstra, Mitsubishi, FAA, Pepsi, and Bell South who used our presentations to launch Optus.

Australia's first Imaging Bureau in Crows Nest NSW was opened by us in 1990 when we rushed to buy the first $40,000 Kodak Dye Sublimation 'Photo Quality' printer in Australia and became Kodak Australiasia's first Digital Imaging VAR. DMA had been working on Evans and Sutherland mainframe computers and Autographics workstations since I982 but was soon producing more sophisticated, 'Photographic' imaging and doing the sort of retouching that normally needed a million dollar Quantel Paintbox on an inexpensive but powerful Mac II. Inexpensive meant $10,000.00! and 'Powerful' was a 40 MEGA byte (Not GIGA byte ) drive, 4 MB of Ram and a 15" monitor! (A 19" cost $11,000.00!). Today the story is still the same. We get the best results by employing the best people, buying the best equipment, providing the best training and adding one ingredient not many companies have: Experience. This only comes with twenty years in digital Imaging.

The Cost of Imaging and Retouching by a talented operator on fast, powerful equipment has held the same hourly rate for the past ten years. If you take into account inflation, increased income, the improvements in equipment speed and effects provided by new software digital imaging has never been cheaper. DMA now routinely optimises and 'touches up' thousands of images weekly as a matter of course rather than as a laborious and expensive option. The result is that turnaround has never been faster and your images have never looked better.

Image Optimisation. Digital Cameras and Photo CD scans are 'RAW' images that need to be cropped, have the density and gamma adjusted, colour graded, sharpened and spots retouched. DMA has developed software that speeds batch conversion of digital camera and Photo CD files (an optional service) to finished layout files optimised ready for print, web or both. The work is performed on our high end Macintosh systems using Pre-Press calibrated monitors. Your images are then index proofed and supplied on Mac/Windows formatted CDs.
